Especially with the effects of COVID, we’re more than proud of our team for carrying the weight of Bob Brooks School for half a century. How Did Real Estate Look 50 Years Ago?
While real estate has been around since the dawn of man, the industry hasn’t been around for very long. Before getting organized, many things we would see as unacceptable would’ve passed as normal. The big milestone that could be seen as turning things around is the founding of the National Association of REALTORS® on May 12, 1908. It was then that the organization began to grow, spreading its influence and changing the way that real estate agents made their way through the industry.
We began our business in 1971. By this time, the Federal Reserve Bank was already made, and the Code of Ethics was adopted. The year after, in 1972, the National Association of Real Estate Boards changed their name to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) that we know of today. The following decade in the 1980s, home improvement programs took America by storm, increasing the popularity of investing in a home. But technology didn’t stop there. When the 1990s hit, real estate really began to embrace the internet. Since then, the real estate industry has changed from what we once knew. Today, millions of Americans use sites to help them not only find new homes but also take courses to become a well-rounded real estate agent on their own time.
