How To Get Your Real Estate License In Mississippi

Are you looking for a fresh start? Taking a step in a new career direction can be intimidating. If you’re not sure how to move forward, don’t let your plans fall through. Prepare yourself with information and actionable steps!

One path many consider is earning their real estate license in Mississippi, but they aren’t sure where to begin. Bob Brooks School can help guide you through pre-licensing and taking the real estate exam.

Pre-Licensing In Mississippi

Every state has different prerequisites when it comes to real estate licenses. In Mississippi, there are only two requirements needed to qualify and begin the road to becoming a real estate agent:

  • You must be over 18 years of age and have graduated from high school.
  • You must be a resident of Mississippi.

Mississippi requires 60 hours for a salesperson license and an additional 60 hours for a broker license. A broker differs from a salesperson in that they can own their own practice and hire other agents. You must hold a salesperson license in Mississippi for 1 year or take 30 additional hours of education before you can become a broker.

Bob Brooks School offers approved Mississippi pre-licensing courses. Our online course allows you to take your course on your own time and at your own pace. Our course allows our students the flexibility to log in and out without losing any work. You’ll always be able to pick up right where you left off. The exam is important, so being able to move at your own pace increases the chances you’ll pass it the first time.

What sets our course apart from others? Our course has high-quality video presentations in every lesson with our instructor, Brent Lancaster, keeping you engaged and learning.

It will be like you’re sitting in a classroom from the comfort of your own home!

Okay, I Have My Education, What Next?

After your complete your pre-licensing courses, the next step is to contact the Mississippi Real Estate Commission to schedule your exam by calling (601) 321-6970. You will take this test using PSI Examination Services on a computer. So you don’t have to worry about bringing your #2 pencil.

Rather, there are three things necessary to bring to the exam:

  • Two forms of valid identification with signatures—one must have government-issued photo identification.
  • Confirmation number of your exam reservation.
  • A basic calculator.

The exam has two parts—a national portion and a state portion. To pass, you’ll need a grade of at least 70 percent for the national portion and 75 percent for the state part of the exam. Once you’ve accomplished this, congratulations, you’ve got your real estate license! Seems manageable when you take it step-by-step, right? This license lasts one year. In that time, you’ll be expected to complete post-licensing courses to keep your license in good standing. And, yes, we can help you with your post-licensing requirements as well!
