What Are the CE Requirements in Mississippi and Louisiana?
When it comes to CE requirements for insurance professionals, Louisiana and Mississippi both have their own specifications. So, if you operate in either state, it’s important to know what steps you need to take to maintain your license. Here are CE requirements in both states.
Mississippi
Insurance agents in Mississippi must meet the following CE requirements. According to the Mississippi Insurance Department, for Licenses in effect for 13-18 months, 12 hours of continuing education are required. And, for Licenses in effect for 19-24 months, 24 hours of continuing education are needed. This includes three hours of ethics training.
Louisiana
According to the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI), CE is only necessary for resident insurance producers and adjusters. Insurance adjusters who designate Louisiana as their “home state” for the purpose of licensing are included. The LDI states that producers licensed for one or more lines of life, health and accident, property, casualty or personal lines must receive 24 hours of CE (including three hours in ethics training). Similarly, an adjuster license requires 24 hours of CE (also with three hours of ethics included).
However, the requirements differ for producers licensed for line of bail bonds and producers licensed for line of title. Both of these require 12 hours of CE for their renewal. But, for renewals filed on or after August 1, 2020, producers licensed for line of bail bonds need to include six hours covering bail enforcement. Similarly, producers licensed for line of title must have two hours of consumer financial protection in their CE course.
